TRE Workshop: Archives and Cultural Memory – Outline Program Copenhagen 28-30 May 2015

This workshop on archives and cultural memory is the last of three within the Transnational Radio Encounters project. The workshop focuses on broadcasting archives as repositories of cultural encounters and investigates how collaborations and meetings between cultures have been documented, stored and re-circulated in broadcasting archives, how archival knowledge can be networked to restore the knowledge of such encounters and how the increased availability of archival material may be used to generate new transnational and transcultural spaces of dialogue.  

DAY 1 Thursday 28 May 13.00-19.00: Public Seminar The program will include:

• Andreas Fickers’ Keynote Lecture
• Ib Poulsen on the transnationalism in Danish radio feature
• Nanna Bonde-Tylstrup on cultural memory in the age of mass digitization
• Panel of archive representatives on Transnational Archive Agendas (confirmed: Paul Wilson from British Library, Bas Agterberg from The Netherlands Institute for Sound and Vision, Ditte Laursen from The State and University Library in Denmark, and moderator Sonja de Leeuw, Utrecht University.

Evening program by Copenhagen Radio Cinema (limited space)  

DAY 2 Friday 29 May 9.30-17.30: Project Workshop Day The program will include:

• Panel on Community Radio (Confirmed participants: Paul Wilson from British Library, Helen Hahmann from CAPTCHA community radio archive project, Kathy Cremin from Bede´s World Museum and Hive Radio and Birgitte Jallov from Empowerhouse)
• Showcase: practises in transnational archiving featuring Stef Scagliola, TRE Audio Platform & Knowledge Base, and more.
• Hands-on Workshop on exhibiting Radio Heritage, exemplified by the TRE exhibition

Evening Program from 19.30: TRE invites guests for dinner  

DAY 3 Saturday 30 May 10.00-15.00: Internal project day The program will include:

• TRE progress discussions
• Possibly a trip to Ringsted Radio Museum
